The Big Feed auction items go live!
The Big Feed live rural telethon has launched 12 auctions on Trade Me to raise funds for donations of mince and milk meals for food banks nationwide.
A number of organisations have jumped on board to support Meat the Need’s fundraising drive, donating a range of goods and services with all proceeds raised going towards supporting communities through The Big Feed.
Auction items include:
- A three day holiday package from Tourism Waitaki
- An all-expenses paid corporate box experience for two guests, when the Chiefs play Moana Pasifika in early April 2024 with Sir Michael Jones at FMG Stadium
- A three day accommodation experience at Magdalen House at Glenhope Station, Hanmer Springs for four people, where you can choose from a guided fly-fishing experience or big game hunt for red deer.
- A Gallagher solar fence energizer unit or satellite water monitoring system
- STIHL chainsaw
- 5ha of Cleancrop Brassica Seed
- A 9 foot Malibu surfboard, Keith Grinter vase, Kerri Back Photography canvas or oil skin jacket
Anyone who donates to The Big Feed will also go in the draw to win a number of spot prizes including equine equipment, books, board games, a water monitoring system or solar fence energizer unit.
Meat the Need General Manager Zellara Holden says the goods donated from sponsors and supporters to raise funds are incredibly generous and deeply appreciated.
“To see artists, agricultural businesses, tourism organisations and more come together to support food banks is really heart warming. It’s the collective that makes a difference in communities across the country, and this is such a fantastic opportunity for those who want to donate to food banks and also receive something tangible.”
Krissy Griggs, Consumer and Trade Marketing Manager for Tourism Waitaki says they jumped at the opportunity to support the auction.
“We are thrilled to support Meat the Need’s live telethon, alongside our strong network of farming communities throughout Waitaki.
“The cost of living is becoming more of a challenge for people by the day – and nationwide, our food banks are feeling the pressure.
The ‘wonders of Waitaki’ holiday package includes one night accommodation and breakfast at Casa Nova House Oamaru, a one night stay and breakfast at The Nest Tree Houses Kurow, with visits to the Waitaki Whitestone Geopark, Hot Tubs Omarama, an Ōamaru Blue Penguin Colony Experience, Steampunk HQ Tour, Whitestone Cheese Tour and dining vouchers with Criterion Oamaru and River T Kurow.
“By auctioning off the wonders of Waitaki experience, a package worth more than $3,000, we can help fundraise for the many families urgently in need of support. The trip is full of Waitaki adventures and the winners will be welcomed with our local world-class hospitality.”
